About the Author

Sheilah Y. Kimble

Born in Chicago, Sheilah relocated to California at the age of 8. Being raised on the outskirts of Los Angeles, she always read books about urban life, biographies, cultural history, cultural literature such as the writings of the Harlem  Renaissance, and more. She began writing her first set of poems when she was 12 years old.

An up and coming author, Sheilah's first book was "Bits & Pieces Of Me: A Mother's Memoir," followed by "A Sistah's Blues," "A Sistah With Faith," "Me and Mr. Jones," "Niyah & Nanah's Special Soul Food Cookbook," and Niyah & Monae's Special Soul Food Cookbook: Sweets, Treats & Foods to Eat, Julia, The Single Black Mom Raising Sons, Real Men Who Suffer Too: A Guide That Brings About Awareness of Male Victims and Domestic Violence, and Paralyzed In Pain, with other projects in the works."

Being inspired to write a book for years by others, she based her books on her life experiences which seemed more like soap opera dramas instead of reality. After her eldest son's violent death, Sheilah put pen to paper which she uses as a form of therapy which is part of her healing as she turns her bitterness into betterness.
